Massing the Masai

A quick post of my latest batch of 10 Masai. That's 30 in total completed and another 50-60 including villagers to go. I will also be adding a small batch of rifle armed skirmishers (rifles from Empress Miniatures), probably not historically accurate but they may well need the to stave off the explorers and slavers.

I also started work on long grasses and a coral for the Masai cattle.

More to follow with my target to finaish the Masai that I have in 2014,

Liebster Blog Award.

Many thanks to Legatus for nominating us for a Liebster Blog Award!

The rules of the Liebster Blog Award are as follows -

1. Copy and paste the award on your blog linking it to the blogger who has given it to you.

2. Pass the award to your top 5 favourite blogs with fewer than 200 followers by leaving a comment on one of their posts to notify them that they have won the award and listing them on your own blog.

3. Sit back and bask in that warm fuzzy feeling that comes with knowing that you have just made someone's day!

So, here's 5 from us -

1. AJ's Wargames Table - lots of good Colonial stuff.

2. Campaigns of General William Augustus Pettygree - more colonial fun, with a fantastic narrative storytelling style.

3. Savage Timmy's Playhouse - a constant favourite for 'adventure' tabletop gaming.

4. Somewhere the Teas Getting Cold - too many Oldhammer sites to choose from but Thantsants has one of the best! Lovely painted miniatures, great scenery, excellent stories and pictures and good old school fun!

5. The Nothelm Chronicle - a fab Dark Ages blog. The Nothelm Chronicle is little known Anglo-Saxon chronicle recorded by Brother Nothelm of the abbey of Wuduceastre. Describing the life and times if the King's Eoldermen Rodor and Beornwulf 'the Bold'; including relations with their overseas cousins and voyages of adventure to foreign lands.

There you have it - check these sites out, they are well worth following!

Last Post of the year and some Masai

Just a final picture of the year of my first unit of 10 Masai, complete besides adding a bit of grass to the bases.

I was hoping to attach a picture of my new 12 man Mahdist horse but I still have 4 riders to finish so hopefully next month.
For 2012 of the 105 figures I painted 41 were colonial so a reasonable percentage given my low output this year. Of the 105, 46 were painted in the last 3 months so the beginning of the year had been very slow.

My intention for 2013 is to paint up the last 40-50 Mahdist foot I have including the perry plastics set which should give me enough figures to run a fairly big battle and add the option of buying some Egyptians to support my Brits. Of course I also want to finish the Masai so a lot to do.
